BH finally took my credit card and I now have a hosting plan. The guy said it would take 3 days to be ready. He wanted me to click the "Edit Wordpress Site" button but I told him I don't think I want to do that. I thanked him and called tech support and the nice lady said that they have only been trained in Wordpress and don't know anything about phpBB. She did say that I wouldn't have to wait three days but should wait 24 hours.
Is there a knowledge base article that starts with "So now you have a BlueHost plan"...
I did open cPanel. I found an option to install phpBB but I think I just copy my test site onto BlueHost.
When I open FileManager, it shows a couple of folders, with public_html looking important. That has four subdirectories, cgi_bin and three wordpress directories. Can I delete those four? On my test machine I have phpBB in a forum folder under htdocs. Do I copy my forum folder under public_html or just take the contents of that folder and dump it directly under public_html?
I also opened phpMyAdmin on the server. I'm assuming this is where I import my phpBB database. I clicked on Databases and got an error. Hopefully that will clear up after the 24 hours.
The only support document I got from BlueHost involves setting up "codeguard" which seems to backup the database. Do I need to use that?
And a question about email settings. There is a 3 month trial package of Professional Email. I don't think I need that, but how does phpBB send emails from the host? Is that something I need to setup?
PHP version? My test site is using 8.2.12. Under the Hosting Plan it says the version is 8.3. phpMyAdmin says the web server is using 8.1.27. Hmm?
Somewhere under Site Management is a button to " Remove WordPress entirely - Stop using WordPress with this website. " Seems like something I should do?
