I abandoned PHP 7.4 in December 2020 to upgrade to PHP 8.0 and I encountered few problems with extensions, it is rather advisable to only use extensions in CDB.
When switching to PHP 8.2 I encountered no problem.
You could make a list of the extensions used to check if they cause problems with PHP 8.2
I have never used XAMP or any other similar program
