This is something I've periodically looked into over the past several years but don't know what the right choice is.
In the upper-echelon of phpBB boards, I own/run one that will be 20 years old in a number of months, and is closing in on half a million posts. It revolves around images so they're extremely important to its existence. All attachments are uploaded using the stock phpBB configuration into the 'files' folder on a dedicated server. The problem is there's no longer a way to backup the folder by rudimentary means due to the size it's at which increases daily.
From the research I've done, the solution seems to be to pay for a cloud storage service, and then get a program that can initially backup the entire 'files' folder to it, and then merely synchronize any future uploads to it. There's seemingly a plethora of different ones out there but I'm trying to figure out which is right for my needs.
I need something that implements a user-friendly graphical interface opposed to command line, and has the ability to do the syncing either manually or which automatically detects changes in the folder, propagating them to the cloud backup in real-time. With the dynamic content of a message board I feel it will be detrimental to have something trying to be done periodically by automated means at the same time members are uploading. If it's manual, I can disable the board once a month for example, and press a button for it to backup sync the new content. Real-time is even better as it does it as members are uploading.
Lastly, I'll also require a program that can send the entire backup back to the server in case my board ever needs to be restored from scratch God forbid.
With that being the case, any recommendations you can provide would be appreciated. As an example, one solution that may be what I'm after is called GoodSync for servers under their business section.
