Possible options:

• edit replies
• [soft/hard] delete replies
• lock posts
• open/close the topic

More widely, there can be a feature to assign any moderators to topics (alike forum moderators currently, but restricted to particular topic(s)).

There was an extension regarding this matter https://github.com/AlexSheer/phpbb3.1-Topic-Moderator but the author is gone.
